Now if you're playing the original edition there is hope yet, as you could edit your save game to circumvent the issue, if it has to do with the chapter count. I'm not entirely sure of this since I haven't tested it, but I can't think of anything else that it would be.ĭo you play the enhanced or original edition? So the issue is probably that you're on chapter 14 (or 13). Instead it checks for a specific game wide variable that gets set once the door has been opened the first time. This would've been fine if the door itself kept track of the chapter count and would automatically be opened if the chapter count was 13 or 14, but unfortunately that doesn't happen. When talking to the rabbibunny on Tippet Island the player must be on chapter 12 or below in order for the key to spawn.

When using the safe in the fortress on Principal Island the game increments to the penultimate chapter in the game, chapter 14. They're used quite sparingly and usually doesn't cause any issues, but this seems to be one of those rare instances where it relies heavily on the current chapter count when it decides if the rabbibunny should give you the key or not. LBA 1 uses chapters at certain points in the game to figure out what you're doing and where you should be going. Looking into this further now I think I understand more or less what's going on. I have had this happen to me in the past but never quite understood why it happens.
